Amenities
In 2005, we completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of our building. All resident rooms are wired for telephone service and cable TV. Our building has central air-conditioning for your comfort. We have a beauty/barber shop for your convenience, and a large rehab gym. Each floor has a spectacular view of beautiful Schenley Park, Oakland, and the downtown Pittsburgh skyline.

On our eighth floor, there’s a lovely, spacious dining room with breathtaking views of the park and the city. Sharing those vistas is our Internet café, complete with coffee bar, computers, and wireless Internet access.

Activities
Staying active and involved is an important part of everyone’s health and well-being. Our seven-day-a-week activities calendar will provide you with a variety of recreational activities to help keep you mentally, physically, and spiritually active—no matter what your level of mobility is.

Our schedule of activities includes gentle exercise classes, games, music, crafts, discussion groups, religious services, and more—all designed to keep you vibrant, energetic, and on the go. We have children from local schools stop by for events, projects, and visits. And if you have a hobby you love, you can bring that along with you.

We also provide opportunities for you to stay involved in the community. If you’re able and interested, you can join your fellow residents on shopping expeditions or trips to the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, take in a Pirates game, head for a River City Brass Band concert, or join in on other local outings.

Certification/Accreditation
The Commons is certified by both Medicare and Medicaid. We’re also accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), a nationally recognized, independent organization that sets standards of excellence for nursing homes and other healthcare facilities.

In addition, we are proud to have signed the profession-wide Quality First pledge, which further reflects our commitment to quality, ethical care and resident safety.
